SUMMARY: Senior-Level, In coordination with Government, perform a variety of complex network engineering tasks independently which are broad in nature and are concerned with the design and implementation of integrated networks, including personnel, hardware, software, and support facilities and/or equipment. Lead major technical/engineering network activities of higher complexity and importance than those normally assigned to lower level engineers. Plan and perform network-engineering research, design development, and other assignments in conformance with network design, engineering and customer specifications. Responsible for the completion of assigned engineering projects within budgetary and scheduling guidelines. Leads a group of engineers, analyst, and/or technicians assigned for the duration of a project or may function as ongoing lead within a group associated with one of more technical areas. Supervise team of Network Engineers.


REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Proficient in Cisco and Juniper configuration and troubleshooting
  • Experience analyzing switching and/or routing, IP addressing and sub-netting
  • Good working knowledge of WAN technologies and protocols
  • Experience analyzing, troubleshooting, and configuring IP networks
  • Knowledge of ports and protocols being used in IP networks
DESIRED SKILLS:
  • Experience with Cisco 9800 Wireless LAN Controllers (WLCs)
  • Good working knowledge of Juniper and Cisco hardware platforms
  • Experience with tools such as ISE, Splunk and NetBrain
  • IPv6 configuration, troubleshooting, and design experience
  • Security certification would be a plus
  • VPN and Firewall knowledge would be a plus
  • Certifications with major network system vendors such as Cisco are a strong plus. CCNA or CCNP
  • Excellent project, technical, interpersonal, presentation and problem management skills
  • Extensive network integration experience for a variety of network protocol standards
  • Ability to communicate orally, and in writing, detailed technical information on troubleshooting and implementation efforts in strong documentation skills
PRIMARY DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Work directly and indirectly with  customers, Technicians, Network Engineers and/or Network Architects to execute network design changes or modifications to the of the  network infrastructure, as well as identify, analyze, and resolve issues for customer impacting events that maybe escalated.
  • Design, implement, and maintain the network infrastructure for our data centers, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.
  • Configure and manage Cisco ACI fabric, including APIC controllers, switches, and policies.
  • Develop and implement automation scripts to streamline network provisioning, configuration, and management tasks.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network incidents and problems.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of network services with other infrastructure components.
  • Stay current with the latest networking technologies and trends, particularly in the areas of data center networking and automation.
  • Be able to read, interpret and provide network designs for various types of presentations both technical nature and of the leadership informative nature
  • Engage in decision making regarding appropriate network changes to maintain configuration control and minimize configuration size using knowledge of network sub-netting and best practices per industry standards
  • Use Standard Operating Procedure’s (SOP), Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTP), and Work Instruction’s (WI) to complete Change task via Command Line Interface (CLI) on device If no documentation is available, use best practices and independent decision making to complete task of the implementation
  • Perform service validation to assess if deployed changes have caused impacts to customer traffic using provided expectations of traffic behavior, lessons learned, and customer reporting
  • Use network decision making skills for configurations such as detailed step by step instructions within the network switch operating system for new network devices that are replacing legacy network equipment that needs to be refreshed or replaced from time to time as a part of your design
  • Provide assessment and design recommendations to resolve certain network device security vulnerabilities
  • Provide wireless local area network (WLAN) device analysis and new access point designs to support expansion or reduce constraints as a measure to increase network capacity and/or bandwidth
  • Perform periodic review of the capacity and operating functionality of network devices using critical thinking to analyze and design providing a solution for the constraints
